Student House with Social Engagement
In the Student House with Social Engagement, you live together with other young people who want to do something for the most vulnerable in our society and in the world. Do you have a heart for people, regardless of origin or religious beliefs? You’re more than welcome here!
Every semester, you commit to set up a solidarity action with your housemates. In past years, we have organised an action called ‘Soep op de stoep ’ (it translates into English as ‘Soup on the front doorstep’ but sounds nowhere near as cool) to benefit the Welzijnszorg non-profit organisation, as well as a spaghetti evening to benefit projects in the south.
This student house has ten rooms, each with its own bathroom including a shower, washbasin and toilet. The kitchen is communal, shared between five rooms. A lovely common area is perfect for meeting each other and relaxing.
Student House Horizon: a spiritual Christian project
In Student House Horizon, we first want to be a warm community in which everyone feels free to search for their own religious identity. You’re welcome here, no matter where you may be on your religious journey.
Every Tuesday evening, everyone eats together. One or two students put their culinary creativity to the test, always resulting in an intriguing meal from the world kitchen. This is followed by a substantive part: we read and share round a Bible story, listen to testimony, watch a film together or visit an exhibition … We close the evening with a moment of prayer in our beautiful chapel.
In October – at the very start of the academic year – we go away together to a monastery or abbey. Testifying, sharing and celebrating, praying and enjoying the silence and the unique location form the ideal framework for getting to know each other.
Student House Horizon has twelve rooms available. There are two hallways, each leading to seven rooms (with two rooms kept free for exchange students studying Nursing). The rooms each have their own shower and washbasin. The toilets are communal, accessible via the hallway. On every floor, there is also a kitchen with a dining area and a communal space in which to meet each other.
