Known in Dutch as ‘Congrescentrum Groot Seminarie’, the Major Seminary Conference Centre in Mechelen is an inspiring location for meetings, conferences and events. Whether you’ve planning a small gathering or organising a major event, you’ll find everything you need.
The Major Seminary was once dedicated to training clergy. Today, the historic site offers you the choice of at least nineteen meeting rooms in diverse set-ups and arrangements, suitable for groups of 10 to 300 people. Book them for use throughout the day, in the evening, or for multiple days. See which possibilities will make your event a unique experience.
Welcoming as many as 120 guests at a time, our restaurant boasts the perfect décor – including an indoor garden – for parties, dinners, buffets, receptions and other special occasions.
From Monday to Friday, we serve up delicious, fairly priced lunches prepared with sustainable ingredients. Whether you’re looking for meat, fish or a vegetarian meal, you’ll always find options to satisfy you. Our house wine and our beers – locally brewed here in Mechelen – make the perfect complement to your meal.
Since the spring of 2025, a colourful series of biblical scenes by artist Luc Blomme have adorned the corridors and hallways of our conference centre. A ‘child of the sea’ from the coastal town of Ostend, Blomme often painted the day-to-day lives of farmers, fishermen and the simple of heart.
The Major Seminary in Mechelen is a unique living environment for students. You’ll find student rooms here that are a little more than just a place of your own to stay during your studies.
Everyone is welcome at De Peerle. Here you will find a wide range of books for children and adults, focused on deepening faith and finding meaning in the broadest sense of the word. For those who work in the church, we offer inspiration for catechesis, prayer services and funeral liturgy, as well as liturgical supplies. Teachers will find a wide selection of books and games exploring faith and living together in society.
As well as all this, you’ll find an assortment of candles, crucifixes, statues and images of the Virgin Mary, devotional items, meaningful gifts and greeting cards for all occasions. Discover De Peerle.
